Ocean

Moving cargo between countries by sea

International ocean freight means moving cargo between countries by vessel through the port system. It is the most common mode of all and carries more than 80% of global cargo volume.

Morning Logistics takes rates and space directly from the carriers and handles the full document set. We also take the cargo groups many companies turn down: dangerous goods, out of gauge cargo, bulk and charter shipments.

  • Rates and space taken directly from the carriers
  • Documents and customs clearance handled in one place
  • Agents at destination in more than 40 countries

Scope of work

What we handle

Full container load (FCL)

Full container load shipments in 20ft, 40ft and 40HC. Booked against the weekly sailing schedule, with space held in advance through peak season.

Less than container load (LCL)

Groupage consolidated at a CFS warehouse and charged by cubic metre (CBM). Suits small consignments, samples and companies with too little volume for a full container.

Dangerous goods (DG)

Dangerous goods classified under the IMDG Code. We prepare the safety data sheet (MSDS), file the declaration and obtain the carrier’s approval before the cargo is packed.

Out of gauge (OOG)

Out of gauge cargo carried on flat rack or open top. The lashing plan is worked out in advance and surveyed before the unit goes to the yard.

Bulk and charter

Coal, ore, agricultural products and clinker on charter terms, for high volume consignments that do not go into containers.

Ro-ro

Vehicles and self propelled equipment driven straight onto the vessel over the ramp. No container needed, so handling costs at both ends come down.

Project cargo

Oversized and heavy machinery and equipment, with the lashing plan, the lifting plan and a survey before it is loaded on board.

What you get with Morning Logistics

  • We deal with the carriers directly, so rates and space hold up even in peak season
  • B/L, packing list, C/O and specialised documents all handled in one place
  • We take DG and OOG cargo, the groups many companies turn down
  • One coordinator stays on the shipment from the quote to the document handover
  • Advice on the right lane and the right carrier to bring the total cost down, not just the freight rate
  • Schedule tracked against milestones, which keeps delays and add on costs down

Picking the right lane and the right carrier matters more than a cheap freight rate

A cheap rate is not always cheap. The total cost of a shipment depends on the lane, the carrier, whether the space holds in peak season, and whether the documents are clean.
