Three boilers moved from Hai Phong port to Nghi Son. The heaviest piece weighed 84 tonnes, stood 5.2 m high and 4.8 m wide, out of gauge on both dimensions, so a full road move was not possible.
The plan
The survey team spent 6 days measuring bridge clearances and pavement load ratings on the stretch from the berth to the site. The answer: barge to berth 2, then a 2.4 km road pull on a low bed trailer.
Discharge ran in a single night shift to get the port 250 tonne crane and to stay off the provincial road at peak hours.
Outcome
All three pieces reached the site 9 days after leaving Hai Phong, 2 days ahead of plan, with no cargo damage.
